Third overhead DMS to be installed on I-565 Thursday, Sept. 25

A dynamic message sign (DMS), like the one pictured, will be installed on Thursday, September 25 on I-565 westbound near Triana Boulevard in Huntsville. The DMS pictured, on I-565 westbound between County Line Road and Greenbrier Parkway, was installed earlier in the project.

A dynamic message sign (DMS) will rise into the sky over I-565 westbound near the Triana Boulevard overpass in Huntsville on Thursday, September 25.

The DMS is the last major feature being installed as part of the $5.2 million I-565 advanced corridor management project.

ALDOT to replace traffic signs from Mississippi line to Birmingham

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to replace older traffic signs with new signs on I-22 from the Mississippi state line to the I-65 interchange in Birmingham.

The 96-mile project, which also includes new traffic counters in Jefferson County, is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 22, and will continue until fall 2026, weather permitting.

Expect late-night closure of North Memorial Parkway service road at Mastin Lake Road

Starting late tonight, the northbound US-231/US-431/North Memorial Parkway service road will undergo a complete closure for a few hours for installation of bridge girders on the north span of the overpass at Mastin Lake Road. The girders will be placed across the area where the crane is positioned in the photo.

Expect a temporary complete closure of the northbound US-231/US-431/North Memorial Parkway service road just north of Mastin Lake Road in Huntsville late tonight into early Wednesday morning.

CR-49 in Geneva County temporarily closed for SR-52 project

Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, a section of CR-49 in Geneva County will be closed until Friday, Sept. 19.

The contractor for the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Rebuild Alabama project to widen SR-52 will close the section to complete the new CR-49 connector across SR-52.

Travelers should seek alternate routes and plan accordingly for possible delays.

UPDATE: ALDOT announces overnight lane closure on US-84 Wednesday night

Lane closure on US-84 from US-43 in Grove Hill to CR-39 near Claiborne

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is advising motorists of an overnight lane closure on US-84 that will take place Wednesday, September 17th beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Triple roundabout upgrades safety at Blount County interchanges

New Blount County triple roundabout upgrades are designed to lower the number of serious wrecks at the busy intersections on SR-160 near I-65 (Exit 284).

For years, those interchanges kept Hayden police officers busy.

Since the department’s inception in 2019, responding to crashes on the roadway became a regular duty.
